All branches of social media are expanding today at a very fast rate. There has been so many collaborations with businesses from opposite ends of the spectrum that it is unbelievable how advanced our technology has become. But every great invention has its weakness.
Technology makes it more convenient to do just about anything. Its efficient and effective. But a study was done on the "google search engine" and it has been proven that every thing anyone searches is stored and can be used to trace you. My concern about this great rising industry is that soon everyone will be required to have some type of online profile. Our privacy is slipping under our fingers and we don't know who is viewing our information.
Chapter 2 in Communications 202 asks the reader..."What possibilities for the Internet's future are you most excited about? Why? What possibilities are most troubling? Why?
The internet gives one access to information....World Wide information! So many sources with so many facts, opinions, stories, and data. For example if you want to learn how to properly wear a scarf or how to properly use excel one can go to Youtube and watch a video on just that. We can access this information anywhere anytime. On our phones, laptops, i-pads, kindel's, the world we live in today heavily relies on social media/technologies. Today I left my house without my cell phone and I felt completely and utterly naked. Our cellular phones let us connect to anyone at anytime. In the 1900's people had to wait on letters and messages that could take months to receive. These days we can send a text and within seconds the other person on the other end receives it in lighting speed.

Maybe one day the internet will be 3D. Att&t a cellular phone company plans on getting their whole network on a 4G wave. This means all contracts will include data plans whether you like it or not. Our advances help the human race as a whole, but at the same time these advances can spark negative intent. People will have access to important and personal documents. Profiles online are like every rapists dream. They can now go shopping and pick out who they want to kidnap today. So technology comes at a high cost. The question is are we willing to pay that much???
